Mark is a pharmacist and his wife who is a nurse have been married for 33 years. They have 2 grown children and 1 new granddaughter.
Mark has help coordinate numerous prostate cancer awareness events around Iowa with a very dedicated and hard-working group of volunteers. With 1 in 8 Iowa men having prostate cancer, Mark feels there is a great need to help our fellow Iowans right here at home.
Mark was the 3rd brother in his family diagnosed with prostate cancer in November 2013. He is passionate about raising awareness for prostate cancer and helping other Iowans who have been affected by this disease.

Heidi Holsapple
Pharm, D. R.Ph.

Heidi is a graduate from the University of Iowa and is currently a pharmacist at Mercy One. She lives in central Iowa with her husband and 3 children. She sees the impact that cancer has on patients and their care givers, as well as her family and loved ones who have battled prostate cancer.
She has a strong desire to help raise awareness for early detection and to support those affected by prostate cancer through this local organization.

Jeff Taylor
Treasurer
Jeff moved to Des Moines from Wichita, Kansas in 1988 and has lived in the area since that time. He is a graduate of Wichita State University. After a forty-year career as a small business owner and employment in a variety of sales and sales management positions in varied industries he retired in 2019.
Jeff is a Prostate Cancer survivor of 21 years after being diagnosed in January 2001. His father was also a survivor of prostate cancer, unfortunately, his grandfather was not and passed away from the disease in 1957 at the age of 57. Awareness, diagnosis, and treatment has advanced enormously since his grandfather’s time and Jeff is pleased and proud to be involved in Prostate Cancer Awareness of Central Iowa and do his part to help other families and men in central Iowa and across the state.
Jeff and his wife Mary, who is a nurse, live in Polk City, Iowa. They have four children and four grandchildren and enjoy spending time with family, traveling, playing golf and spending time in Mexico.


Brian Gallagher M.D.
Board Member
Dr. Gallagher was born and raised in Iowa and is proud to call Central Iowa home. He is excited for the opportunity to provide compassionate, high-quality urological care to the patients of the community.
Dr. Gallagher received his medical degree and residency training from the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa in 2003 and 2009, respectively. Dr. Gallagher has practiced in Des Moines since 2009. He is board certified in urology.
Dr. Gallagher is a husband and father to three great children. The majority of his time outside of work is spent supporting his kids as they participate in the things they love and fostering their growth and development.

Jennifer Schwartz
Board Member
Jennifer has been a Central Iowan since 2003. As an Actuary and FCAS member working for Farm Bureau Financial Services, her goals include helping people manage risk to protect livelihoods and futures. Cancer has a big impact on her family with having lost an uncle and cousin to Prostrate Cancer. She is excited to be a part of this organization as is passionate about helping fellow Iowans.

Dan Streit
Board Member
Dan Streit lives in Ft Dodge and has recently retired from the banking and financial service industry for 42 years. He has been married for 43 years. We has one daughter and 3 grandchildren.
Dan is prostate survivor now for 8 years. Dan is look forward to helping other Iowans with their prostate cancer journey.
